John Davis | Resident Director

The Resident Director is chosen each year from a GLCA/ACM member college. While not always a Japan specialist, the Resident Director is professionally interested in Japan. The Resident Director will host Japan Study participants for dinners, discussion meetings, and a variety of special events.

Ayano Kano | Site Director

Ayano Kano joined Japan Study as the Program Coordinator in 2023.  Ayano completed two years of her high school education in Canada, living with a host family.  She then went on to complete her undergraduate college degree at Earlham College, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2011.

After graduating from Earlham College, she joined Inditex in Japan as a manager at one of its ZARA stores, where she worked for several years.  Ayano’s latest position involved import and export logistics.

Ayano has a deep interest in global interactions and education.  She is looking forward to following in Michiyo’s footsteps with the Japan Study Program and is excited about her new role as Program Coordinator.  She is looking forward to the opportunity to contribute to the Japan Study Program;  a program that has been in existence for over 60 years, and to continue the mission of educating students to become global citizens.
